Job Description

Part-Time Finance Manager

Location: Remote (US only)
Commitment: Part-Time (flexible hours)
Company: Knapsack – Design Systems SaaS

About Us

Knapsack is a fast-growing design systems SaaS company that helps teams build, scale, and maintain world-class design systems. We recently raised our Series A and are scaling quickly, which means our finance operations need to level up alongside the rest of the business.

We're looking for a part-time Finance Manager who can own the day-to-day finance needs while building scalable financial practices for our next stage of growth.

Role Overview

As our first dedicated Finance Manager, you'll report directly to the Director of Operations and work closely with the leadership team. You'll manage core financial operations while also driving forward-looking planning and strategy. This is a great role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves with tactical work but also thrives on building models, forecasts, and frameworks that guide company-wide decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-Day Finance Management
    • Own bookkeeping, AR/AP, financial reporting, and cash flow management
    • Oversee monthly close and support compliance and tax filings (with external partners)
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial operations
  • Strategic Finance & Planning
    • Rebuild and maintain the company's financial model for better forecasting and scenario planning
    • Develop a scalable headcount planning model aligned with growth and budget needs
    • Partner with department leads to establish and manage departmental budgets
    • Track actuals vs. budgets and deliver insights to leadership
  • Advisory & Growth Support
    • Provide finance guidance to support fundraising, board reporting, and investor relations
    • Identify opportunities for financial efficiency and improved margins
    • Recommend and implement tools/processes to improve finance operations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of finance or FP&A experience (SaaS experience strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to create and maintain financial models and headcount plans
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and department-level financials
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfort working in a startup/scale-up environment with ambiguity and fast growth
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus but not required

What We Offer

  • Flexible, part-time role with potential to grow as the company scales
  • Opportunity to shape the finance function of a rapidly growing SaaS startup
  • Work closely with an ambitious and collaborative leadership team
  • Part-time salary of $60,000 - $65,000 annually
